Lulu DK

I've been thinking a lot about fabrics lately. I interviewed an adorable older couple in their Lake Shore Drive apartment yesterday for a story I'm writing and really loved how they padded and upholstered most of their walls. They did it to keep noise levels in check, but I thought it added a wonderful and subtle sense of warmth and coziness to their contemporary city home. I also happened onto the ultra-chic fabric designer Lulu de Kwiatkowski's website last night via her new book, Lulu, full of her striking handmade collages, like the image above ($63 not yet released). I picked out a sampling of some of my favorite fabrics below, but she also makes rugs and bed linens. For showroom info and local retailers click here.
