Best of 2010 on 6th Street
It was so fun to take a look back at all that has happened on my blog this year. It has been a wonderful and full year. Take a look at some of my favorite posts.
In January I finished the first room in my house. Jett's room!! I also added some calendar art to my bedroom wall and made my own trellis fabric!
In April I finally graduated with my degree in Interior Design!
In May I got an awesome new kitchen rug for under our table. I also threw a Bunting Bridal/Baby shower for my cousins.
In June I announced I was starting up my own business!
In July I made some major progress on our Bedroom.
August brought a fun first birthday party for Jett! I also went on Studio 5 for the first time to talk about mixing up your decor.
In September I showcased my new office. I also helped a client with a new game room for her husband. I had the time of my life in New York at the Nate Berkus show where I got to meet a lot of my favorite bloggers. September also marked 1,000 followers on my blog. I also updated my bedroom wall with a great stencil pattern. It changed the whole room! I had the opportunity to team up with the blog Just Cook Already to style a Photo Shoot for LDS Woman's magazine.
I also appeared on Studio 5 again to do a segment about taking risks in your home.
Wow September was a busy month!
October's big task was Kids + Design week. It was a great success thanks to all the bloggers that participated. The bedroom got updated once again with a new duvet, pillow, curtains and sheets. We took some time in October to take our family pictures by the amazing Hayley Anderson.
November brought new living room curtains for me!! I adore them. I also had the best time in New York with my good friends. Shopping galore!
This past month has been wonderful. Some of my favorites include; a new coffee table, additions to the office, a blogger social at Alice Lane and a successful e-design living room.
I can't wait to see what 2011 has in store! Happy New Year!
Feature Friday: Parlour
If you haven't seen this beautiful Living Room that Nichole designed yet then today is your lucky day! Today I am featuring her and her wonderful blog Parlour. It is filled to the brim with easy and budget friendly DIY tips. I asked Nichole to describe her style and this is what she said:
I am definitely eclectic in every sense of the word. I love old silhouettes done in fresh, modern finishes. Mixing and matching of patterns, colors, styles, finishes and even eras makes me giddy. I prefer to be different and unique in every way I can, while still holding to the general ideals that make any interior design successful and cohesive. And of course, there is some element of femininity in almost every nook of my home, thanks to my super understanding hubby.
Check out her home!
That amazing light fixture is a giant paper lantern with glued on coffee filters. Genius! See more about it here.
The colors in these framed photographs are beautiful and tie in all the colors in the room.
This silver piece used to be dirty and black and look at it now!
I love those little pink slippers she put on her chairs.
The table was a $50 estate sale find. She decoupaged the top to make it completely unique.
She turned a boring white shade into this great black and pink shade. It looks so great all lit up at night!
That great Cameo piece was purchased at a Flea Market. What a treasure!
The print above the sink is from Made By Girl.
This hallway collage is full of color variation.
Here is her cute bathroom. See more about it here.
Thanks so much to Nichole for sharing her home. Make sure you check out her blog and her shop. She has some great items including this cool chevron chair!
I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve!
Meet Mr. Magnificent
One of my great clients bough this fabulous coffee table for her living room. It looked great but we both agreed it wasn't quite "her". But don't you think it screams "me"! She offered to let me buy it from her and I instantly agreed. I love how unique it is. I wouldn't say any of the furniture pieces in this room are particularly that exciting so it's wonderful to have a "hero" piece. Someone to steal the show.
Mr. Magnificent is from Shine. I blogged about their lamps here. Their products are big and bold and like nothing you've ever seen. It was purchased through Alice Lane Home Collection.
I feel like this table instantly lifts my room. I am so happy with it. Merry Christmas to me!
Photo Wall Updates
The photo wall in my kitchen has been through some recent changes. I love walls displays like these because you can constantly change things up with new pictures or new art pieces. I feel like it's much fresher and lighter now. I added my great canvas prints. They were such a good deal!
Last week I decided to make an ampersand. I followed this tutorial. It's fantastic and it was so easy. It adds the perfect jolt of color I was looking for. This wall makes me happy every time I look at it!

This month Better Homes and Garden featured the home and office of talented designer Amy Meier. Don't those curtains look fabulous in her space! I love all the natural woods and the soft blue walls.

Look how beautiful her office is. That desk is so perfect for the space.
I enjoyed the article so much. I am a new fan of her work and I had such a great time browsing her portfolio. Check out these amazing rooms.
I have really enjoyed reading about Amy's story on her blog. It's inspiring to me to read about her journey of following her dream and doing what she loves. You must check her out!
