Some Office Additions

My poor husband was sitting on the floor for months in the office. So Caitlin hooked me up with this awesome Eames rocker. Love it! It's great for a small space. I had Erin make me a cute little ruffle pillow for the chair to give some added back cushion.

This new chair and pillow are such a bright spot in my office. And if you want a pillow of your very own head on over to Honey We're Home to enter a giveaway for Plush Studio.

A Word From Our Sponsors: L & S Fabrics

Today Sam from L & S Fabrics is showing us how to make throw pillows. What a great gift idea for the Holidays!

Well, it’s that time again. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the holidays are upon us. It’s a time of a lot of food, a lot of family, and, plenty of work!! This is the time of year that our kitchens become piled high with baked on dirty dishes and our family rooms over flow with the people we love. While we are all busy making grocery lists, and guest lists and, and gift lists, it can be easy to overlook the all important design list. The holidays are a great opportunity to spice up our homes and make people feel welcome with a few easy peazy waves of that special designer magic wand.
This is the perfect time of year to make a few big fluffy floor pillows. This project, which only takes a couple yards of fabric, serves two functions (not counting the fort the kids will make once everyone is gone). First of all, we all know that our living rooms are never big enough to hold all the people in our lives, so now, the unlucky few who get stuck sitting on the floor for the big game, will now be the lucky, as they will have front row seats on your shiny new floor pillows. Secondly, floor pillows are a GREAT way to add a punch of boldness and child like fun into our
grown up spaces. Since they get stacked in a corner or basket somewhere when not in use, you can go CRAZY with your fabric selections and use those big bold prints and other novelties that
would never have worked as the main textiles in your space. Also, it’s a great chance to mix and match different fabrics on one pillow.

1. Measure the fabric and make your cuts. (general rule: cut the fabric one inch smaller then pillow insert) In this case we made our cut 35’’

Sew the two sides together with the fabric inside out. The seam is an inch from the edge. This makes the pillow cover two inches smaller then the insert, which gives you the fullness you want.
In this case we now have a 34’’ cover to hold a 36’’ insert. Leave about two thirds of one side unsown for stuffing.

Stuff the pillow. We prefer the tri-fold technique!!

Hand finish the rest with your trusty curved sewing needle!

Looking good in no time at all!!!

Thanks Sam for the great tutorial!
