A New Favorite Rug

Last month I went out to check up on the progress of client's living room. She just got this rug in and I'm still dreaming about it. It is the perfect rug!

This West Elm rug is made from jute but is really soft. Plus it has the coolest chevron pattern. I can't wait to use this rug in other projects.

WS Rugs

Ever since I saw the collection of casual rugs at Williams Sonoma Home I've been trying to find a place for one in my home. The prices are just too good to pass up!

So I ordered one for Jett's room. I really like it. It's super super thin. Like almost just a thick piece of fabric. But so far it's been doing great in his room. It lays flat and it's not too scratchy. One of my clients ordered two of them for her house. I can't wait to see how they look.

Hayley's Rug

I am seriously thinking I am going to make myself a chevron rug. Look how amazing this rug done by Hayley Anderson turned out!

I can't believe she made such a cool rug with an ikea rug and some paint.

New Office Rug

I love rugs. Especially in an office or kids' room where you have a lot of open floor space. I have had this little white shag rug in here and I really love it. It's so so so soft and I can just throw it in the wash when it gets dirty. However my dog is also in love with it and it has become her new bed. I often find it in a big ball on my office floor.

Last week Rugs USA contacted me and asked me about doing a review for one of their rugs.
Uhhhh... of course!

And I even knew the exact rug I wanted. I have been eyeing this rug for my office for months now.

It is so amazing and it comes in three color-ways.

It arrived on Monday and I promptly laid it out in my office.

LOVE!!!

I just love the pattern and the color. It lays nice and flat and doesn't have any kind of weird odor like some new rugs do.

It is a dhurrie rug so it's not very soft like my nice little shag rug. I've thought about layering them.

What do you think?

I love layering rugs.

Rugs USA seriously has the best rugs. I use them all the time for clients. Here are a few of my other favorites.

The always popular Fallon available in lots of colors.

I love this rug and they just came out with one in navy!

Can't go wrong with a good stripe.

They have so many great rugs! Seriously the list goes on and on.

The "perfect" rug...maybe not.

Rug in the store.

Close up...it doesn't do the greens justice b/c they are much more vibrant

I recently fell in LOVE with a rug at one of my favorite (if not MY fav) local rug store House of Rugs.  They make it a point to pick out the timeless colors, great quality, just really pretty rugs.   Alot of the work is done for you, so that you don't have to go thru mounds of rugs to get to what you might like.  They are mostly persians, and VERY reasonably priced.  Anyway, a few months ago I was in and found a rug!   I probably wouldn't have normally picked because its base is navy blue, (should have been a clue), but it has a beautiful design and a gorgeous colorway with really pretty greens, and yellows, browns, and coral.  The great thing about House of Rugs is that they let you take a few rugs home with you so you can see it in your decor.  WELL, above you can see the rug in the store

And here it is in the house (remember I have NOT yet covered the couch and chairs, and this is VERY much a work in progress.)

THE RUG

Another rug

I am just not as enamored with it IN the house as I was in the store.  Wipe brow, a crisis averted.  The moral of this story is to really make the effort to try things in your house if you can BEFORE you fork over the denaro.  Especially a rug that you will most likely have to live with for a LONG time. (at least in my family!)   Most boutique stores will let you do this.   I still really LOVE the rug, just not in my house.  I don't think the other rug is THE rug either, but I really like the lighter tone of it.   The room is really light, and I want to keep it that way.  Being able to compare them really helped me narrow it down.  Here is what I think would be great...I just have to find it!

I am thinking something like this....

Found on 1stdibs one of my new FAVORITE places to dream.
But I love the greens, and pinks, and oranges.

or this

another 1stdibs find...ONLY $33k...

oh well, the search continues...but I know it will be worth the wait!

I recently stumbled upon this beautiful nursery at Somewhere Splendid. It was designed by Joni of Lay Baby Lay. I am in love with the color combo!

I think this black and white chevron rug totally makes the room!

This rug is similar to this Madeline Weinrib version.

While researching for an e-design client last week I came across this great knock-off!
