Romantic, hazy neutrals

Everytime I redecorate my bedroom, I always seem to come back to a creamy, neutral palette with lots of white (always white linens), with touches of lavender and muted blue. I always
find these colours so relaxing and inviting. It's fresh, but with a little more moody
undertone after dark.

Rosy, peachy neutrals

Lately I've found myself constantly drawn to warm combinations of gold and peachy pink mixed with neutrals. There's just something so decadent about this palette - it instantly takes you back to sunny days at the beach but metallic or mirrored accents add a touch of sophistication and glamour.

Fabulous Spaces 5.6.09

I love this glamourous, elegant space - and especially paired with a rather whimsical indoor garden, right on the dining room table. The high ceiling. The large, impactful art in a soft shade. The juxtapose of classical, delicate furniture with mid-century modern. Formal and informal all at once.

Dreamy, creamy neutrals

Generally it's customary to start the week off with a bang! and go for bold, bright colours to add a jolt of energy - today I'm craving a softer approach as I slowly ease myself into the week ahead...

Soft light and dreamy pastels have an ethereal, luminous effect.

Soft pastels play against each other in this romantic bedroom in Martha Stewart's guest house.

Cupcakes that look like they were plucked right out of a jewelry box - far too pretty to eat!

Just the prettiest stationery around - only happy things to be written in here.
I've been coveting this for a while...

Is there anything more lovely than full, fresh pink peonies? I can't think of anything at all...

Room of the week 29.5.09

I love the easy elegance of this space. The gorgeous chevron floors contrast the soft, flowing fabric on the sofas. Easy neutral palette, and a touch of sparkle. The perfect place to spend the weekend.

Shades of greige

While nothing can beat the drama or clarity of simple black and white, far too often I find myself drawn to calm, soft shades of greige. That delightful combination that comes in so many different hues ranging from a grey blue to mushroom brown to lavender, storm grey (always a favourite of mine!). It effortlessly blends to create the type of relaxing, neutral spaces that instantly take down your stress level a notch and set a tone of calm and comfort. Because neutrals can often be seen to be bordering on boring, bright metallics, rich textures - furs and animal hides, and dark espresso or black accents add a bit of edge and sophistication.

Dara Caponigro's bedroom would definitely make my list of all time favourites - and is big inspiration behind my current bedroom. Topped off with a Ventian chandelier and a soft grey cowhide rug... amazing...

Dark espresso details - like the trim around the windows and a simple, striking pedestal ground the space and add a bit of a masculine touch.

I always find mushroom grey looks so sophisticated in plush rich fabrics like velvet (above and see last photo).

I love Larry Laslo's use of dramatic art in this space - the striking black stone sculpture is my absolute favourite thing in the room. (Find more beautiful stone sculpture here.) This room has been on my inspiration board for over a year - I don't know if I'll ever tire of it.

What's not to love about this beautiful space - shiny mirrored dressers and accents in robin's egg blue and chocolate.

The Luxe Set: Gold + Neutrals

The combination of soft neutral tones and rich gold just speak of luxury and classic good taste. Soft, dusky greys, soft tans and caramels set against honey gold hues. I thought these two editorials blended beautifully - this is exactly who I imagine coming home to the Stark's gorgeous home. I fell hopelessly in love with both the second I saw them.

Hope your week's going well so far!
