Best of 2010 on 6th Street

It was so fun to take a look back at all that has happened on my blog this year. It has been a wonderful and full year. Take a look at some of my favorite posts.

In January I finished the first room in my house. Jett's room!! I also added some calendar art to my bedroom wall and made my own trellis fabric

In April I finally graduated with my degree in Interior Design!

In May I got an awesome new kitchen rug for under our table. I also threw a Bunting Bridal/Baby shower for my cousins.

In June I announced I was starting up my own business!

In July I made some major progress on our Bedroom

August brought a fun first birthday party for Jett! I also went on Studio 5 for the first time to talk about mixing up  your decor.

In September I showcased my new office.  I also helped a client with a new game room for her husband.   I had the time of my life in New York at the Nate Berkus show where I got to meet a lot of my favorite bloggers. September also marked 1,000 followers on my blog. I also updated my bedroom wall with a great stencil pattern. It changed the whole room! I had the opportunity to team up with the blog Just Cook Already to style a Photo Shoot for LDS Woman's magazine.

I also appeared on Studio 5 again to do a segment about taking risks in your home.

Wow September was a busy month!

October's big task was Kids + Design week. It was a great success thanks to all the bloggers that participated. The bedroom got updated once again with a new duvet, pillow, curtains and sheets. We took some time in October to take our family pictures by the amazing Hayley Anderson

November brought new living room curtains for me!! I adore them. I also had the best time in New York with my good friends. Shopping galore!

This past month has been wonderful. Some of my favorites include; a new coffee table, additions to the office,  a blogger social at Alice Lane and a successful e-design living room

I can't wait to see what 2011 has in store! Happy New Year!

Meet Mr. Magnificent

One of my great clients bough this fabulous coffee table for her living room. It looked great but we both agreed it wasn't quite "her". But don't you think it screams "me"!  She offered to let me buy it from her and I instantly agreed. I love how unique it is. I wouldn't say any of the furniture pieces in this room are particularly that exciting so it's wonderful to have a "hero" piece. Someone to steal the show.

Mr. Magnificent is from Shine. I blogged about their lamps here.  Their products are big and bold and like nothing you've ever seen. It was purchased through Alice Lane Home Collection

I feel like this table instantly lifts my room. I am so happy with it. Merry Christmas to me!

Photo Wall Updates

The photo wall in my kitchen has been through some recent changes. I love walls displays like these because you can constantly change things up with new pictures or new art pieces. I feel like it's much fresher and lighter now. I added my great canvas prints. They were such a good deal!

Last week I decided to make an ampersand. I followed this tutorial. It's fantastic and it was so easy. It adds the perfect jolt of color I was looking for. This wall makes me happy every time I look at it!

Joy to the World

I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday weekend. I'll be spending the weekend with my family.

Thank you so much to all of you who read my blog. You truly bring me such much joy in writing and maintaing my blog. Merry Christmas!

Jett's Bathroom

Here is the inspiration board for Jett's bathroom. I already have the shower curtain and bath-mat. The towels are on their way. The art is from this etsy shop. The sea sponge is from here but I'm sure I can find it cheaper somewhere else.

But first we need to paint. We always seem to put that off for months and months so hopefully we can find the energy to do it right after Christmas.

Some Office Additions

My poor husband was sitting on the floor for months in the office. So Caitlin hooked me up with this awesome Eames rocker. Love it! It's great for a small space. I had Erin make me a cute little ruffle pillow for the chair to give some added back cushion.

This new chair and pillow are such a bright spot in my office. And if you want a pillow of your very own head on over to Honey We're Home to enter a giveaway for Plush Studio.

The Two Best Things that Ever Happened to My Office

Today I received this amazing print in the mail from  Laura Mae Dooris. Laura does mixed media painting.  The second I saw this "Good Egg" print I knew it would be perfect for my office. The colors are spot on .

Here are some of my other favorites from Laura's shop.

Check out her shop to see more of her work.

...something else awesome came in the mail.

I have never been so happy to throw things away.

Holiday Shopping at Pier 1

This year I decided it was time to spruce up my tree so I headed out to my local Pier 1 to find some unique and inexpensive ornaments.  While I was there I found so many wonderful things I wanted to take home with me.

This Peacock wreath is so cool and I think  you could even have it up for all of Fall and all of Winter.

This tree was so full of amazing colors I wanted to buy every ornament on it and recreate it in my own home.

My favorite thing about Pier 1 is all the quirky decor and holiday gifts ideas that they have. This octopus would be so fun to hang on your tree and your kids would love it!
I found a few items that I brought home with me.

The first was this garland to spruce up my t.v. credenza.

Since I don't have a fireplace this credenza pretty much acts as my mantle so it was really fun to
put some garland on it to spruce it up!

Every year I just have an assortment of basic gold and silver ornaments on my tree so this year I decided I wanted to spruce it up by added some light green and copper.

My first Pier 1 pick was four of these owls.

I fell in love with this plaid green ornament. It's very classic and will hopefully be on my tree for years to come.

I loved this light green ornament. There is a lot of detail on it and the shade of green is perfect!

Finally I got a few of these noel signs. They are so festive and add the perfect cheery touch to my tree!
Pier 1 is a great place to shop for the Holidays and I also wanted to pass on that Pier 1 is really supporting Toys for Tots this year. During the month of December you can drop of unwrapped toy donations or make cash donations to Toys for Tots at the register.
You can also become a Facebook Fan of Pier 1 and they will donate $1 to Toys for Tots for every new fan they get.

All That Glitters...

I am officially all decorated for Christmas! Every time I get my Christmas decorations out I wish I they could stay up all year. They add so much sparkle and cheer to my home.

The Christmas Tree candle and small ornaments were all bought two years ago at Target after Christmas.  75% off baby!
I hung a few snowflakes from the clock above my sofa.

A silver and gold spray replaced my cherry blossoms.

I love this little tree decorated with handmade ornaments I bought when I was in Russia.

The santa is also handmade from Russia.

This train that runs around our Christmas tree has been in my husband's family for years. It is originally from Germany.

Stay tuned for more tomorrow on my Christmas Tree...
