Adding to the Collected Wall

The new 'addition'
A couple of months ago I won a giveaway from Julie at Milk and Honey Home.  She was giving away letter posters from Methane Studios.   Original Screen prints...I mean, I had my fingers crossed fo sho! She will be doing another one in September, so pop on over to check it out. I of course wanted the "O", and was happy to see that the colors would go perfectly in my Den.  Seriously ya'll, with a name like OPGENORTH, (a not so perfect name, but I OWN it!) it was kind of  design serendipity that the colors would go so perfectly. So I hopped myself over to the 50% OFF frame sale at Hobby Lobby...(really, if you want frames you have to wait for these sales, they rotate every few weeks.) and bought myself a couple frames.  Oh, and another thing.  Check your receipt, because the girl at the front didn't give me my 50 on one of the frames....so I called her on it, of course, and stood in line for ANOTHER 10 minutes to rectify.  Worth all $16!

Oh, and the painting of my sweet boy, finally got the frame he deserved:) With a little cojoling from the artist/mom...she is having an art show soon and needed the artwork to be "properly" displayed. (so my collected wall, will look a little sparse for a few weeks, what am I going to do??  One of the things I love about a collected wall, is you can swap things out if you need to, and it still looks good.

Onward and upward, ya'll.

Silhouette Artwork

As part of the Studio in DCity redesign, I wanted to create something personal for my sister to display on her walls.  I only had a small amount of time to create something fantabulous...I didn't really have the inclination nor the talent to paint something.  Hmmmmmm what am I good at?????....GRAPHICS!  AH HA!  I started shuffling thru photos of my sister.  I wanted to show the fun side, the strong side, and the spontaneous side.... my sister all rolled up into one AMAZING package.  Needless to say there was no shortage of subject matter:):)

Bring photos into photoshop, do a little magic, print out on inkjet fabric, find great frames. Et VOILA!

Unique, one of a kind, ARTWORK...

(PS you don't have to have photoshop to do this silhouette artwork, you could easily trace over a photograph with pen...use a window as a lightbox tape photograph, and then tape paper, fabric, etc. over the top and trace.)

More  to come.

Paint by Numbers...a phenomenon!

This is just a gorgeous wall of paint by numbers so colorful!

via retrorenovation
Any dog lover would adore this
via Country Living the White Issue on shelves now! Loving it!
Mountain scenes for a mountain house...Perfect!
When flipping through the recent Country Living Magazine (which is fantabulous) BTW, I noticed this wall of paintings...and not until I was reading Milk and Honey Homes raving reviews on the recent issue of Country Living did I realize they were the old Paint by numbers that were all the rage in the 1950's.

via Completely Coastal

There is a great article on the subject at Completely Coastal.  I had no idea there is a Paint by Number Museum, that the Smithsonian did an exihibit back in 2002.  Who knew/??

You may now be inspired to start your own paint by number collection....I just might have the perfect place for you to start, because I felt compelled to picked one up to put in my etsy shop The Collected Home , it would be perfect for a little girl's room, or a fan of ballet.  Put in a collection with a few other dancing Paint by Numbers would be a beautiful on a wall of artwork.  I love how this one has blocked out color, and the colors are really pretty too, purples, and turquoise and pink.  It really is too bad my little one isn't a fan of dance...because it would be stayin!

The purple velvet tufted chair just might be something that goes in the shop too...
notice the embroidered  pillow and the design, that might be available too, just sayin:)
Happy Collecting! Now off to find some of  the horse artwork....I think I know a little girl that it would be perfect for.

If you are interested the artwork will be $45 plus shipping and in my etsy shop later today, but if you are interested zip me an email too.
