West Elm Extravaganza!
Getting right to it; The moving truck comes Monday and we decided to give our couch to goodwill and buy a new one to be delivered to us in San Francisco. We went with a low budget, because this move is expensive. After much sitting we decided on the West Elm Tillary Modular Sofa in Charcoal.
It can function as an armless sofa, daybed, chaise and armless twin bed. The arms have a traction on the bottom so there is no effort to moving them around, just picking them up and placing them, and they stay put. It was the most suitable couch we found for lounging and snuggling which is what we do. Can't wait for the first Law and Order marathon!
Next, I got the Holiday Catalog in the mail yesterday and spotted these beauties.
It's the Modern Glass Pendant lamp, Not terribly high priced at $99.00 and they seem to have a sibling in clear glass- Seeded Glass Pendant Lamp.
and lastly, Ornaments...only I wouldn't hand them from my tree, I'd keep them up year round, The Agate and the Enamel ones would look great hanging from a door way or hook on the wall. The Chair is too cute, I'd probably put in on a bookshelf if you're into it I could see them as dollhouse furniture (8 bucks isn't bad for a West Elm Chair). They're all under $10 too!
I almost forgot! How awesome is the Octagonal lamp? ($99) I am a self confessed lamp-a-holic or as Ron M. says a lamp tramp.
Great Idea!
In this month's Blueprint Magazine, they featured a DIY coffee table made from a $25 cot from ebay, baking sheets and paint.
So easy, this would be great outdoors as well, I love the idea of moving the trays and being able to sit on it.

Magazine Day!
I got three magazines in the mail today, Domino, Elle Decor and Blueprint, all great with some great Ideas I'll blog later this week, but my favorite is this, In the Domino article "Couture Decor" about Fashion Boutique Owner Beth Buccini. Two ideas were inspiring and one picture is fabulous.
The first great idea is Ms. Buccini's stairwell, she used many rolls of wallpaper of varying widths. Amazing, I'm not one for wallpaper but this I love and one day if I ever have a stairwell, I will do this.

The second great idea is in her living room, she hid her flat screen behind curtains in between two windows. It's right there in the middle of the windows.
Couch, Couch, Couch.
I keep ping-ponging between three choices. Each has their merits and charms, but I'm not sure which one is really for me.
The first is the Slipcovered Sofa Jasper from Room & Board.
I'd get it in the Snow color as shown, it's washable and has those fantastic pin legs. I own a black cat though, that is to say she owns me, so I'd worry the couch would be covered in hair every time I turn around. I LOVE the way the slipcover sits, looks so casual, a couch like that could easily be very uptown, I think the slipcover negates that. It's also 71" long, which is great because my living room is small and most couches are boats.

Next up is the Burke from Room & Board.
I think the site is being tweaked right now because I could only grab this picture and no info.
They have (had) this great Kiwi Colored fabric, which is what I was interested in. Again, great pin legs, 74" and great lines. Wish I could show you the color I like.
Moving on to the more affordable couch. The Ikea Beddinge Sofa Bed.
I love the green and it has these rectangular pillows that act as arm rests. It is the only sofa bed out of the three which is great because we have no place for guests. I also have visions of Sundays laying on this as the bed in the living room watching Law and Order marathons. At a fraction of the other two it's appealing...but there's not the same passion there. So it might be a great "for now" couch, but I think my heart is really with the Jasper. I need to go and lay on it though, see if it's good for naps or plopping down and vegging out.
