Apartment Therapy Links

Apartment Therapy has some good links/posts today.

Sliding Welter Wall; an ingenious C-wall, kind of like an pocket door on the outside of the wall. I'm wondering if it would be all that difficult to construct your own out of plywood and small casters?

Modern Design Deck Poster: The A-Z on design and like every good alphabet it includes two B's, two E's, two N's and two W's.

The Pants Table from Melia: I am totally in love with this table, and if it weren't way out of my price range (not even in the same solar system) I'd be setting my drink on it right now.

Houseboat Life

I've always wanted a houseboat, it's very appealling, no yardwork and great views.

Featured over at CasaSugar is the story of a renovated houseboat on Lake Union in Seattle, Washington.

Beautifully done using salvaged and recycled materials, doing most of the work themselves, it's more "house" than "boat".

Craziness!

Sorry for the complete lack of posts. The movers finally came on Halloween, the next day was my birthday, we're having some minor computer issues and we went to the famous Alameda Flea Market yesterday...I just couldn't get myself in front of the computer to post.

Today is no better, I'm going to phone in this post.

Check out this inspirational post from Apartment Therapy. I adore the colors in it and can't wait until I actually own so I can paint out a color combination like this.
They're from this blog by Kris and artist and a fashion designer from Italy. I am going to add her blog to my blog roll as a bookmark for more inspiration.

This is something we could all easily do, find a favorite object and pull the colors to make a room.

Pimp your Fridge

Great project via Design*Sponge

It's very Orla Kiely and so simple. I might give it a try here at the new place.

Last Post in New York.

So as the above states, I think this will be my last post while I live in New York. The moving truck came today and we are going to two shows Tuesday and Wednesday night in the city and then Thursday morning we are off!

So for my last post here I give you links...

Via Core 77 a gorgeous ceramic remote from Yuta Wantanabe.

and Via Design*Sponge Blake Dollahite's House in photographs, simply stunning detail and mix of old and new.

Pottery Barn goes Swedish. Check out the new Bedding and Throw Pillow from Pottery Barn, Very cool!

Barring any breaking design news I'll be on hiatus for about a week, give or take. See you then in my new times zone!

Must...have...cabinet

Featured over at the Style files:

This colorful cabinet designed by Finn Juhl. I bet you could DIY. I love the colors.

Sfgirlbybay Etsy Shop!

I would love to go flea market shopping with Victoria from Sfgirlbybay, she has the best finds and I love her style.

Well now I (and you) can. Victoria opened up an etsy store with her flea market finds.

Yay!

Check it out here.

Domino Decorating Contest.

I love Domino Magazine. It's my favorite and always brings a smile to my face when I get it in the mail.

So no big surprise I love they're new contest. The Domino Decorating Contest;

Making Lemonade Out of Lemons.

Nicole over at Making it Lovely, really is is Making it Lovely, she blogged her bathroom redo and it's awesome. For not a whole lot, she turned what some could see as an eyesore into something so cute. I personally think the orange tile and blue toilet and tub is very cool and retro but others may not. Way to go Nicole!

I found this great cafe press shop via Design Milk.

Puzzle* was created by Ana Romero in Lisbon/Portugal.

My favorites include the Flowers Mug ($14.29), The Slices Mousepad ($14.29) and the Color Jungle Small Framed Print ($38.99).

Check out this pool!

The Semiraris Hotel in Athens, Greece designed by Karim Rashid.

This was featured in a post here at apartmenttherapy.com. I'm not all that excited by the rest of the hotel, but I love the pool.

A look back

Last year during Apartmenttherapy.com's Fall Colors contest a gentleman from the West Village of New York entered the contest.

It's too bad only two pictures were allowed because whether or not these are "Fall Colors" the color and design is so rich and well done.

The second one is one of my favorite photos of a room. There is so much, light and texture and balance; the brick, the sun, the river rocks, the soft rug, the plants, the locker...it all melds so well. Please notice that he stopped the paint in each room an inch or two from the actual ceiling, a great visual trick.

Check out the entry here.

Check out this house tour

Over at LA Apartment Therapy, they're featuring a great home:Polly & Ben's Sherman Oaks Shangri-La.

My favorite picture is the suitcases (above) they displayed something that most of us keep hidden away and it looks fantastic. I also love their cd storage, I missed it the first time I saw the pictures, I won't tell you where it is, let's see if you miss it too.

Check out the flickr slide show here.

Pill Case

Via apartmenttherapy.com these great Muji Stacking pill cases.

Good for travel, good for uncluttering the medicine cabinet at home plus they're cheap and cute!

Color

Wow, check out The Vedema Hotel in Santorini, Greece. Via The Style Files. That teal-orange combination is really stunning.

Point. Click. Design.

Via apartmenttherapy I found this at Elle Decor's website. You can add corners and alcoves, put in exact dimensions of walls and furniture.

Pretty fun toy, I'll be rearranging my bedroom all morning if you need me.

IKEA tips.

So, I have to admit to being and IKEA-holic, it's disgusting, for weeks in a row I will drag my ever patient and loving husband there every Friday night (it's empty then, my tip to you). I love all the stuff, the junk I need and the junk I don't need. It's amazing how you could furnish and decorate a whole house without leaving the store. I love the tchotkes, the impossibly logical furniture and the ever modern Swedish fabric.

The Consumerist has put together tips from former employees on making your IKEA experience worthwhile. Check it out here. Apartmenttherapy.com has also started their own list.
