Feeling bookish...

One of my very favourite things about the Autumn weather is the opportunity to sit back, snuggle in and get cozy with a good book. I have to admit, lately I haven't been the avid reader I once was - sometimes it's too easy to get caught up in the flurry of it all - so I'm looking forward to the chance to get back to a favourite pasttime.
This photo reminded me of hours spent on the library floor pouring over poetry by Anais Nin or Alice Walker, escaping the world (and my studies!) in my safe cocoon between the stacks of books.

I consider my books to be my friends and have been known to become quite attached to my favourite ones (my treasured vintage copy of Pride and Prejudice). I love having them close by to refer to when faced with an existential crisis or just a comfortable escape. I dream of always having one more great book to read, and an old favourite on hand.

Once that has been achieved, all that's left to do is to find the perfect spot - comfy seating, tea in hand, and we're set for the best of afternoons. (I hope it rains!)

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

What are you reading at the moment? Any good suggestions?

What looks like cozy on the chilliest of days...

The coming chill has got me thinking about the perfect coat in the warmest shade to usher in the new season. My mind immediately goes back to a perennial favourite - Audrey Hepburn's beautifully tailored piece from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I love the cut and the small details of this coat - very elegant and ladylike but the punchy colour prevents it from being boring or too predictable.

Unfortunately I don't possess the Willy Wonka-esque powers to reach into the screen and steal my perfect coat - so here are some alternatives.

Hello Autumn!

As much as I've tried to resist it, it's becoming increasingly apparent that autumn is on it's way - the nights are a little bit cooler, there's a bit of a chill in the air, and here and there I'm starting to see tiny bursts of orange. I have to admit, autumn is one of my favourite seasons - I love the cloudy skies and the gorgeous fanfare of colour in the falling leaves, fresh bouquets of new pencils and stationery, baskets of apples and books, books, books!
Now I'm just searching for the perfect cozy spot to enjoy it all!

Goldenrod...

Javier and I have been enjoying sunny afternoons and seemingly endless fields of goldenrod on our walks through High Park. It seems that all of nature has joined together in one last burst of summer sunshine, and the world is a happier, friendlier place for it...

Perhaps when you see a spot of yellow today, think of it as a little sunbeam sent just for you...

{Here's wishing you sunshine! x }

Summer Chic in the City

Now you're all in for a real treat today - Daniella from Dress, Design and Decor is here to share one of her very favourite looks for this summer. Daniella and I share a passion for all things J. Crew so when I heard she was going to do a 'room to outfit' post from Jenna Lyon's amazing home, I couldn't wait to see it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Thanks so much Daniella!
Enjoy x

When Shar asked me to do a little fashion guest post, I was so excited! But since i'm just as obsessed with decor, as I am fashion, I couldn't help but mix the two.

I have to admit though, I have a problem... and it goes by the name of J.Crew. I don't know about you, but it seems the minute Jenna Lyons showed up, J.Crew suddenly became fabulous! So when Domino featured Jenna and her lovely home, I was even more impressed by her creative talent. I always come back to her livingroom for inspiration over and over again... the zebra print, the sheepskin, the black, white, & yellow, chalkboard walls, and that amazing chandelier... gorgeous! Turning this room into an outfit is definitely a must.

I like pieces that are comfortable but chic, so I love that J.Crew has a constant supply of the basics with that little something extra. Their tissue tees are so soft and comfortable, and paired with the classic toothpick jean you're already looking chic! I love the bright yellow couch in Jenna's home, and the endless summer cardigan is the perfect way to add some colour, while staying warm in the overly air-conditioned office! Add a little sparkle with J.Crew's gorgeous gems, throw on some simple T-strap sandals, and you're good to go! Oh, but don't forget your bag... every girl needs a purse this fabulous!

Wedding Inspiration: L'heure magique

My inspiration for the wedding theme has come from my absolute favourite time of day - L'heure magique - the magic hour. The time when the sun is setting but the sky is still ablaze giving everyone a warm, radiant glow and when lights start to peak out and twinkle... it's always seemed magical and exciting to me.

3 - playful, wonderful photography - like one of my very favourite romantic pictures of Joanna and Alex (Cup of Jo) by amazing photographer Max Wanger.

I would really love to hear your feedback!! I have been a little bit of a reluctant bride, being already legally married, and a bit caught up in some of the stressful side of these things. I'm ready to have some fun and be creative celebrating this happy occasion!

Have any of you got any great DIY ideas to share? Or any ideas from any of the pictures above? I'm in desperate need of all assistance.
